A Day Out in Windsor + Royal Wedding Viewing – May 19th 2018

Day off from driving… I get to have my life back for a while…

Ooooo, it’s May 2018, and the anticipated Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and no longer actress Meghan Markle has arrived. Let’s hope this marriage will last forever. 🙏

Mrs Hen is a Royal fanatic (I am not). She loves the Royal family! OMG. She even made her way to see Prince William and Kate’s wedding (sorry for the informalities here, but they are roughly in the same age group as me 😉). Mrs Hen was so happy that the wedding was on a weekend, that she made me book train tickets in advance, however she had no one to go with. Mr Hen and her son said no thanks, hahahah!! And it was only who was left. She’s never been to Windsor by the way, and the last time I went there was a few years back when Miss Pinky, Master H and I went to Legoland. That’s like 6 years ago! Time flies!

First thing we did was get up early, shower and eat breakfast, then meet at Waterloo… We both got there early, so we jumped onto an earlier train… And arrived at 9.22am in Windsor and Eton Riverside. (Mrs Hen made me take this picture…).

The broadcasting teams are already in their high decked platforms.

Signs were already in place! My, my, the wedding planners thought of everything!!

Houses were already decorated with Harry and Meghan…

And finally passing security, which was practically a nightmare… They should’ve added more barriers if they didn’t want the public to walk on the roads. The long walk was already filled with people, but I’m thankful we got there early, and I had to stop Mrs Hen from entering a few shops on the way!!

The wedding went quite quickly, I sat through most of the ceremony, as I couldn’t see the screen or hear what was going on, so decided I would re-watch clips later on.

Ceremony over! And time for the long walk for the newlyweds… It was so hard trying to get to the front!!

I kept snapping, and snapping but my eyes could only see a sea of hands in the air and cameras… and people deafening my ears with their screams. I thought I missed the opportunity, but I scrolled though my pictures again (later in the day) and spotted this one…

Oh, I caught them on camera!! 😯 Did I actually catch Meghan waving at us?! 😯😯 No waaaay!!!

Time to flee the scenes… It was so hard to get out of the area. People started complaining at how disorganised security were with us fleeing the scene! I think they should have treated this like a football or rugby event and let us go.

Well, now back in town. Mrs Hen enjoyed ourselves but also became so tired… We ended up in the pub next to the station… We were practically tipsy after a pint of cider and a pint of Guiness. 😅

Time to head back with a lot of people. Kind of glad we went to see the Royal Wedding of the year (sorry Eugenie, won’t be attending your wedding). Lots of friends probably thought we were crazy to go in this crowd… 😆😆😆
Let’s hope Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis marry in their early twenties!

Walworth Kebab House – London

Short post!
I think this is the only kebab place I haven’t blogged about… ¬_¬”” Well, lucky me! There was a big traffic jam and East St Market bus stop was closed at the time when I came to this place…
Mrs Hen wanted to go to East St to shop but she wanted to eat first! OMG. And that’s how we ended up in the Walworth Kebab House… I’ve passed this shop for many, many, many years, but never entered it. It’s always busy with the locals, on some days it’s quite quiet in there… But the time has come for me to blog about it. LOL. 

Mrs Hen had the chicken kebab, and I had the lamb kofte kebab. For some reason, my tastebuds like lamb meat. 

Well, well, well… this was surprisingly tasty! Not overwhelming. The salad was nicely made, just a bit vinegary, and went well with my lamb kofte kebab. 

What I liked most was this spicy tomato sauce! See how much Mrs Hen and I went for it. Tangy, sweet but also spicy. All three in one. I’m sure this was made at the kebab house… Even Mrs Hen was saying this place was much better than “the other place in Walworth Road” … not sure which one she was talking about.

Total cost came to £12 including drinks.

My geeky rating: 5/5 (based on Mrs Hen’s views)

Good points:
– Friendly service
– Tasty food and sauce

Bad points:
– A bit cramped but all was ok after only sitting for a while

Tsujiri Matcha Tea Shop 辻利茶舗 – London, Rupert Street

Have you been to China Town recently? Most of the pavement work and building redevelopments are finished, we just need more of the shops to be taken over by whatever is planned. Just fingers crossed for kawaii shops to appear and more food places to try out!

So on a hot day a few weeks ago in April, I happened to have a day off, and so it was decided with MummyGeek to go to China Town… As we were going home, MummyGeek had to stop off somewhere, and I didn’t want to wait, so I decided to go and have a cold drink. Cuppacha and Happy Lemon both had queues, they didn’t have queues beforehand!! Unlucky!! Well then, there were two or three new options on the other side, where it wasn’t too busy…

I chose Tsujiri Tea Shop 辻利茶舗 as it wasn’t busy, and there were only a couple of customers sitting around.

Various snacks are available… But didn’t have the appetite for these…

This is what I had, the houjicha ice blend. I think I ordered the regular one, but this could be the medium size.
Could taste the houjicha (a green tea flavour), it wasn’t too sweet… However I thought it was a bit too icy. So hard to drink whilst there was so much blended ice, it just wouldn’t melt on this hot day…!

It took me more than an hour to drink this! Hmmm, I think I would come here again, but not for the ice blend drinks.

London China Town Update (April / May 2018)

Ok, so I took these pictures over two weeks ago, and a few pics last week. It’s been around a year and a half now since the market was closed down.
This is what China Town looks like now from where the pagoda used to be – The China Town Market building… There’s many empty shops at the moment. Might be more restaurants than cute stores, but we’ll see! I think they’re all likely to open this year.

I wonder if a new pagoda will be built here. It still hasn’t been finalised yet.

I think these ornaments are going to be added somewhere.

Unfortunately, they’ve been used as bins… These are not bins people!! Looking at them, they look more like flower pots… 😒

Just in case you’re missing the Chinese cute stores, there are a couple on Rupert Street but probably don’t sell all those kawaii things that the old market used to sell… They are worth having a look into though!
