It’s been too hot to blog. And being back at work after a long break doesn’t help either…
Hellllllooooo Hastings! This visit happened in mid-June, I actually needed a short break before my long break. Heheheh
I haven’t been on a weekend outing for a fairly long time. Don’t panic readers, there’s a long holiday trip coming up just around the corner (already been and gone, hahah 😅), and I can’t wait. It will be worth blogging about later.
Saturday 9th June
I think this trip was planned two months in advance my ex-manager who for some reason I keep in contact with… More about work than about our personal lives. Sometimes it’s good to keep in contact with some ex-colleagues (most have avoided me – do I boast too much?). Do they read this blog? I doubt it!
Arrived in Hastings before lunchtime, there’s a straight train from Waterloo East, and takes about an hour and a half to get there. I managed to get a weekend ticket which means I can go on a Friday, and return to London on a Saturday or Sunday, and that cost me less than £30. My ex-manager offered me a bed to sleep in, so I took the opportunity! 😉
Hastings is divided between new and old parts… I think most places have that sort of feel. New town versus Old town.
The one in the black t-shirt with the hat is my ex-manager, and the other person is his partner… I’m not sure how I end up with many gay friends. It just happens!
I had a pub sandwich for lunch. It took a bit for this to be made, but I enjoyed it!
Next was a walk a around the area…
They have a tiny rail that runs back and forth to somewhere… in this area they sell fish which is mostly freshly caught… I found the sea bass quite expensive. My parents buy them in London for a much cheaper price.
And then a long walk up to the pier.
My ex-manager apparently has bbq’s from winter to winter, back to back, whether there’s sun or no sun! Amazing. It reminded of my Danish friend who had a bbq in the snow!
Ta-da! It was like a Middle Eastern / European dinner!
I enjoyed myself that evening, I drank a lot of wine with my ex-manager’s partner. There are days when I must free my brain with alcohol!
Sunday 10th June
I had no hang over the next day… ^_^ I slept ok, although I had to pee in the middle of the night. Damn alcohol. Hahahaha…
This dog is called Rusty by the way. We bonded. I gave him dog massages, and I think he liked them a lot. Told the guys to give him massages – dogs like them a lot!!
Before I left, it was time to do a little bit of walking uphill… I’m unfit. I know I am BUT I managed to walk up the East Hill Cliff. The stairs were a little annoying, but I managed to get to the top. Not as tiring as going up St Paul’s Cathedral…!
And it was back down the hill… Just before leaving, we went to a few antique stores. Hastings has quite a few antique stores, considering it’s an area where a lot of people around the world had sailed to and sold a lot of imported things… I particularly liked this painting. Nore sure where it came from, couldn’t spot a signature… Unless you can!
That’s the end of my fun and short weekend of catching up with the ex-manager (from many years back) to exploring the town he and his partner holiday in. 😉
Would love to visit again!!!
