Bubblewrap Waffle – London China Town

What to do on your week off (at the end of March)? Eat ice cream and Chinese style waffles is one answer. 😅
Bubblewrap is based on the Hong Kong style egg waffles but with added ice cream, sauce and toppings. For some reason it’s gained a lot of popularity. Reason: Not known. Constantly long queues too.
I tried to get there as early as possible but there was already a queue! There was only 10 minutes left till opening time… And I already had to wait. 😮 If you notice before queuing, there’s a sign of where the two hour wait starts from. SIGH. Thankfully I didn’t have to wait two hours!!
Just before opening, I was given a leaflet with the menu.
At this point I was nearing the front after 15 to 20 minutes.

Getting close!

Almost there!

And finally I got in! I texted Miss Money during my queuing time as it was nearing her lunch break. Tried to get her to come out from work early but I think her boss is quite strict with time. 🙄 Anyway, she asked me to get her one, the matcha tea one, unfortunately they had run out of that flavour. Oh well, sorry Miss Money.

Anyway. I ordered two (Miss Money thought it was only one wrap per person to order, uh no).

After 45 to 50 minutes of waiting, I got my two Bubblewraps. An incredibly long time…

Miss Money and her co-workers got the strawberry one, and I had the chocolate one. 😋

To be honest, it wasn’t very exciting, just taking the pictures of the food was more exciting than eating it. 😅 My chocolate flavoured egg waffle tasted normal with a tiny hint of chocolate. Found it a little hard to eat just scooping out the ice cream and picking at the egg waffles. Miss Money and one of her co-workers weren’t very excited. Weren’t pleased with the pricing too. They said to me, that the bakery opposite sold Japanese taiyaki and green tea ice cream for £2 or £3 something, and had a similar taste to the egg waffle… Oh dear.
So a total cost of £12.98… Not worth the wait methinks.

Dum Dum Donutterie – London Brick Lane

I finally gave Mr Games’s (and Mr Sensible’s) Christmas presents one month later!! Heheh. Mr Games even treated me to a lunch at his workplace. Thank you!!
After visiting him at work, I headed off to Shoreditch to find that Donald Trump mural (picture at the very bottom of this post) and see if there were any eggs on the floor… No eggs but just a hypocrite smiling away on the panels of a construction site. Shoreditch has changed a bit… new buildings about. No doubt expensive flats to drive out the poor. Stupid government and building plans.
Amongst all of that, I came across a donut shop along Brick Lane. I think this is a shop most people have blogged about, and I thought I will give it a try.

I got the Nutella one and the pistachio cronut. They’re priced at £3 each as takeaway. And I think it’s £3.60 when you eat in. Obviously I did a takeaway!

Wished I had this Nutella one second because this is utterly delicious!! Umai!!! The cronuts feel hard but they have a good donut edge to it and not too much croissant taste.

The pistachio had custard in it. This was nice too but I think I liked the other the best… 😀

I even made an attempt to making cronuts… but these look more like donuts with a very buttery croissant taste to it! And I think I burnt them too. >_<"" My second attempt weren't bad, but they still taste burnt…

If you get the chance, go find a cronut shop! ^_^

Kaspa’s Desserts – London Walworth Road

Ok, lazy geeky blogger is back! And it’s finally Easter!! ^_^
Today I’m going to blog about Kaspa’s which is an ice cream / dessert shop which has opened for a few weeks in the Walworth Road. It’s practically the first of its kind in the area, although you can buy desserts and coffee and milkshakes in nearby coffee shops or restaurants and supermarkets.

They opened on Saturday 29th March and they were doing discounts on all purchase on both that Saturday and Sunday… And I went on both days with MummyGeek.

Kaspa’s on Walworth Road
There are many ice cream flavours in this store!!
So much ice cream!!
The inside looks really dark but as you sit down there’s a bright light shining on top of the table.

On the first day, I ordered a cappuccino and the Mango Mania…

My cappuccino
This is the Mango Mania. It looks massive! The vanilla ice cream was the bomb. ^_^ Smooth and not too sweet. The sourness of the mango sauce went well with the vanilla ice cream, and there were real pieces of mango included too!! Overall a satisfying ice cream
Mango Mania!!

The next day (the Sunday) I went again with MummyGeek and this time I wanted to try out the waffle. I got my mother this Strawberry Mousse cake. The cake was good but the strawberry on top looked bad.

And for myself I wanted to try out a waffle and I chose this Strawberry n Butterscotch. It was so filling I couldn’t move after eating this. Didn’t realise a scoop of vanilla ice cream went with this. Verry good stuff!!

It was a good weekend of desserts… XD
And somehow I won Shot of the Week with a picture of the Mango Mania. So the following weekend I tried out the Ferrero Rocher Sundae, which unfortunately was melting away whilst I was taking shots of it. I think I preferred the Mango Mania. That was more satisfying than this one.
Ferrero Rocher Sundae

It’s melting!!!

I forgot the prices, but it was all less than £10 for each occasion…

Overall this place a good place to eat dessert. You might find yourself surrounded with little kids and teenagers. It’s almost like a hangout already!!

My geeky rating: 5/5

Good points:
– Love the vanilla ice cream
– Big sundaes and waffles

Bad points:
– A tiny bit expensive
– A bit dark in the place… makes it very atmospheric!
